Mid Century & Danish

As Adelaide’s foremost specialist in the restoration and conservation of Scandinavian and Midcentury furnishings I have over 35 years of experience with every level of Mid-Century and Danish designs including works by such prominent designers as Finn Juhl, Borge Mogensen, Hans J. Wagner, J.B. Kofod-Larsen, Greta M. Grossman and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

Whether it be a museum exhibition piece or a more accessible item (such as Adelaide makers T. H. Brown and Noblett), I back every job with a full 7 year warranty.

The veneer construction of these pieces makes it essential that the surfaces are treated with delicacy, as many a piece has been irreperably damaged by inexperienced hands. Clients are encouraged to visit the workshop at any stage of the restoration process, and before/during/after photos are supplied as part of the furniture’s provenence.

I have the facilities and experience to restore complex or difficult pieces, including those which other restorers turn away, and to also manufacture replica components such as legs, handles and rails where needed. My extensive experience with Mid-Century interior design (see Mid-Century room feature below) ensures that the designer’s intentions are evident in every piece.

Andrew restored our Noblett dining table which we had recently purchased from it's original owners who had hosted 50 years of family dinners around it! Safe to say it was looking a bit tired, but Andrew did an amazing job or bringing it back to life and making it look like it was just out of the showroom! Andrew was prompt with all aspects including quoting, pickup and delivery. Table was completed in quoted time frame despite a Covid lockdown. Highly recommended.
